At the beginning of the 20th century, Robert S. Peabody made a historic gift to Phillips Academy that would introduce students to the exciting and emerging fields of archaeology and anthropology. Today, the institute’s staff members, along with dedicated Phillips Academy faculty and interested students, are working to uphold Robert Peabody’s original vision. The new Robert S. Peabody Institute of Archaeology brings an anthropological perspective into the classroom—supporting the Academy’s initiatives around equity and inclusion and helping students become empathetic members of a global community.
