PA Employee Spotlight – Peabody’s Own, Marla Taylor!

Contributed by Emma Lavoie

This month our Peabody Curator of Collections, Marla Taylor, was featured in Phillips Academy’s “Employee Spotlight” section of the campus community Gazette – a weekly internal newsletter for Phillips Academy faculty and staff.

Each week, a member of the PA campus community is nominated and selected to share details about their role and work. We are excited to see one of our Peabody staff members highlighted and are grateful for all the support Marla has contributed in the 18+ years she has been with the Peabody and Phillips Academy.

Check out the article below and congratulations to Marla for being featured!

  1. I met Marla in 2019 at an evening archaeology event and inquired about the possibility of volunteering at the Peabody. After a ‘rigorous’ screening, I came on board several months later and have been a weekly volunteer there since.

Knowing and working with Marla has been and is a joy. She is engaging, friendly, supportive, and a wonderful mentor. She is crazy knowledgeable and always more than willing to share what she knows, enriching our weekly connections. Ethical to a fault, passionate about her field and The Peabody, I have always respected her work and her presence.

Perhaps most importantly, she is humble, when the butt of my not infrequent jokes and can conjure up not insignificant groans and grimaces for my not infrequent puns.

It’s truly an honor to be her friend and colleague.
